You mentioned today in class that you recommended using Excel for our homework. Do you want us to still write out the equations then? How much work do you want us to show? Excel will pop out the answers, but doesn't necessarily show the equations going into the values. What would you like to see as far as "complete work" goes?

I suggest you solve the HW with pencil and paper Write all your equations and text and draw diagrams. This is too slow in Excel and you won't have a ton of spare time this quarter. Use Excel as a super calculator that lets you save your work. That way if you find a mistake, you can very quickly get all the calculations done again.
I hope to see all of the equations and intermediate steps handwritten. Plug in numbers with units whenever you can. You can staple the Excel to the HW in addition if you like.
The key here is that your HW is supposed to be useful to you as a test preparation tool. If you put minimal handwritten info into the HW, then it will not be very useful when it comes time to prepare for the test.

Thank you for pointing out the typo(s) on the website. HW #1 is due on Wed, 10/4. In general, the calendar page is correct and the "Reminders" on the homepage are also correct. I will fix the website today.
Are you going to continue to put the lecture slides online? I find them very helpful to take notes on in class.

Yes, I will continue to put the powerpoint online. I am creating the PPT day by day, so I cannot put them all out there at one time. I hope to post the a full day ahead of time. But I cannot promise to post them before the early morning on the day of each class. I posted tomorrow's PPT yesterday. The links on the download page work fine, but I forgot to update the links on the calendar. I will do that right now. The materials you will need for Lab on Th are already available on the website.
Thank you for posting this on the Blog where everyone can see it.
Not sure where to put this since this hasnt been update with the new homework, so I will ask here. For #3.32, what St# eqn should we be using for the Prandtl analogy? I tried using eq 3-173, but that didnt give me the right answer.

I was late posting the blog entries for each problem. I apologize. If you read the blog for 3.32 now you will see that you do not have to do that part of this problem. They cut the Prandtl Analogy out of this edition of the book !
